🧑‍⚖️ Guidelines For Chat Punishments

Note that these are suggested punishments and you do not have to follow them verbatim, just don’t go wild. You are a ==TrialMod==+ at this point so you should know the best course of action. Don’t be afraid to judge situations on their severity and hand out punishments accordingly.

The staff member who issued the ban handles the ban appeal, and it’s up to their judgment whether they would like to deny or accept the appeal. Do not post on an appeal unless you are the one who handled the punishment. If you are stuck or confused on whether to deny, accept or shorten the ban, consult with other staff. Try to respond to an appeal as soon as you can - within 24 hours is preferred.

Poor Conduct

Spam (i.e chatting in multiple lines with intent to flood, etc.)
  1. Verbal warning and/or /warn the player`
  2. 5 minute mute`
  3. 15 minute mute
  4. 30 minute mute

  2. 5 minute mute
  3. 30 minute mute
  4. 1 hour temp-ban
  5. 1 day tempban
  6. 3 day temp-ban
Misuse of Advert
  1. Verbal warning or /warn
  2. 5-30 minute tempban depending on severity.

This includes things like “GoodChum is big smell, buy boss souls at A1”, or advertising something that doesn’t have to do with buying/selling or a service/feature on the server.

PvP Logging & Cop Logging
  1. 30 minute tempban.
  2. 90 minute tempban.
  3. 4 hour tempban.

After this, if there are further offences continue to issue out a 4 hour ban.

Lying about rule breaking, or being devious towards a staff member
  1. Verbal warning and/or /warn
  2. 2 hour tempban.
  • Breaking cop rules (potions on duty, planting drugs, farming as a cop, etc.): Ban for 1 day and ask an admin to demote immediately.
  • Cop impersonation: /warn them, and ask them to remove their armour. If they do not obey, get an admin to remove their armour and then issue a 30 minute temp-ban. If they continue to do it, increase the ban to an hour.
Killing a staff member or helper when receiving assistance
  1. 1 day tempban.

Use your best judgment in this situation. Do not teleport to players with items on you. Generally you should avoid doing this at all.

Major Offences

Intentionally failing Runner Jobs
  1. 1 day tempban.
  2. 3 day tempban.
  3. 7 day tempban.
Use of Alt Accounts

With intent to use the account as an alt (e.g. the player was just banned and has now logged in to an alt). If it's just on the same IP and there's no suspicion of them using it as an alt, it should first be verified whether the account is a separate person.

  • First offence: ban the alt account permanently, and 1 day tempban for the main account.
  • If someone who is already banned uses an alt to evade the ban, extend the main account’s ban for 1 day per alt account attempted. Always perm ban the alt account.

Make sure to always include the main account’s name in the ban of the alternate account, unless it is a blacklisted player. In that case write “Alt of Blacklisted player”.

Illegal Mods

Example: auto-fishers, auto-clickers, or other standalone mods that are not always part of hacked clients. (See Rule 13.C in-game).

  1. 3 day tempban.
  2. Permanent ban.

If it is the player's first offence then it is a 3 day ban, however if the player already has a hacked client ban on their history, then it is a permanent ban.

Hacked Clients
  1. 1 week tempban.
  2. Permanent ban.

All hacked client bans are two strikes, regardless of the type of hack.

Auto farming hacked clients/scripts are an instant permanent ban.

Faction Insiding

Faction insiding is entirely context- and severity-dependent, and judgement/punishments should be left to admin discretion.

1-Strike Rules (Permanent Ban on first offense)

If you are unable to issue a permanent ban, tempban/mute the player and get a higher staff member to permanently ban them as soon as possible.

  • Advertising other servers
  • DDoS Threats
  • Exploiting (duping, abusing bugs for personal gain, etc.)
    • Make sure to have evidence and proof of this, and to report the exploit to higher staff immediately. Do not tell other people about the exploits.
    • If the exploit is not critical or time-sensitive, it may be best to have an admin deal with it.
