Banning
Bans are often issued to a player as the punishment for more severe rule violations or for extended occurrences of minor rule violations. They allow us to completely disrupt the gameplay of a player, hopefully causing them to reflect on their actions and prevent future occurrences.
Temporarily Banning A Player
To temporarily ban a player, simply type the command, their name, the ban length, and the reason:
/tempban <player> <time> [reason]
Make sure that you provide a detailed reason for the ban. For instance, a bad ban description for using a hacked client would be /tempban Aubie2002 7d cheating, whereas a good ban description for using a hacked client would be /tempban Aubie2002 7d Hacked Client - Xray (Proof In Logs).
Permanently Banning A Player
To permanently ban a player, simply type the command, their name, and the reason:
/ban <player> [reason]
Make sure that you provide a detailed reason for the ban. For instance, a bad ban description for an alternate account would be /ban lovemycousin69 prolly an alt, whereas a good warn description for flooding would be /ban lovemycousin69 Alternate Account (Aubie2002).
Silently Banning A Player
To silently ban a player (both temporarily and permanently), simply type the command, their name, the ban length, the reason, and the silent token identifier:
/tempban <player> <time> [reason] -s
/ban <player> [reason] -s
By adding a -s at the end (or anywhere) to the ban message, the ban will be done silently, and will not be shown in chat to regular players. This is useful for situations where you are fixing a ban length, banned the wrong player, set the wrong description, or other special cases.
Blacklisting a Player
You can use /blacklist <player> to have console ban the given player with the reason Blacklisted Player.
After blacklisting a player, when possible, please update the Blacklisted Players List.
Banning a Bot Account
One useful command for banning bots is /bot. This will ban the player and the player's IP with the reason Bot Account Detected. This command is useful in the rare case of several bot accounts joining the server.
Un-Banning A Player
To unban a player, simply type the command and their name. It is always suggested to do it silently as-well:
/unban <player> -s
This will make the warning show as not active on their history. Note that, if you wish to completely remove the ban from their history, you will need to prune their history.
