Muting
Mutes are often issued to a player as the punishment for a second offense of many chat-based rule violations, although in some instances they may occur without an initial warning. They provide a way to remove the player's chat abilities without interfering with the rest of their gameplay.
Temporarily Muting A Player
To temporarily mute a player, simply type the command, their name, the mute length, and the reason:
/tempmute <player> <time> [reason]
Make sure that you provide a detailed reason for the mute. For instance, a bad mute description for flooding would be /tempmute Aubie2002 5m chat rules, whereas a good warn description for flooding would be /tempmute Aubie2002 5m Flooding in Main Chat.
Permanently Muting A Player
To permanently mute a player, simply type the command, their name, and the reason:
/mute <player> [reason]
Make sure that you provide a detailed reason for the mute. For instance, a bad mute description for removing chat permissions would be /mute Aubie2002 bad at chatting, whereas a good warn description for flooding would be /mute Kidcar33 Innapropriate Chat Conduct | Extensive History of Torkey Hate.
Note that most circumstances do not validate a permanent mute. They are often given out in rare circumstances by admins, and should almost never be used as a regular escalation of punishments.
Silently Muting A Player
To silently mute a player (both temporarily and permanently), simply type the command, their name, the mute length, the reason, and the silent token identifier:
/tempmute <player> <time> [reason] -s
/mute <player> [reason] -s
By adding a -s at the end (or anywhere) to the mute message, the mute will be done silently, and will not be shown in chat to regular players. This is useful for situations where you are extending a mute due to special circumstances, muted the wrong player, had the wrong message, or any other special case.
Un-Muting A Player
To unmute a player, simply type the command and their name. It is always suggested to do it silently as-well:
/unmute <player> -s
This will make the warning show as not active on their history. Note that, if you wish to completely remove the mute from their history, you will need to prune their history.
