Chat-Related Punishments
_This section will go in detail on how to handle various chat infractions and the appropriate punishments for each. Make sure to review Moderating Chat before punishing players for chat-related infractions.
Level One Chat Infractions
Level One Infractions Include:
- Spamming (Sending the same message more than 3 times within a 5-minute period)
- Flooding with the intent to flood (Spreading a message out over more than 3 lines)
- Using a language other than English in main chat
- Posting malicious links in chat
Suggested Escalation of Punishments:
- Verbal warning and/or /warn the player
- If a player unintentionally broke a rule (such as accidental flooding), it is generally recommended to give them a verbal warning
- If a player continues to break the rule or is intentionally breaking it, it is generally recommended to give them a /warn
- 5 minute mute`
- 15 minute mute
- 30 minute mute
- 1 hour temp-ban
- 1 day temp-ban`
Level Two Chat Infractions
Level Two Infractions Include
- Making racist remarks of any kind
- Making homophobic remarks of any kind
- Sexually harassing another player in an inappropriate manner
- Displaying bigoted behavior (being intolerant to the opinions of another, within context)
- Being obsessively disrespectful to a Helper or Staff Member
- Carrying a general intent to be offensive (toxicity) against another player(s)
Suggested Escalation of Punishments:
- /warn the player
- 5 minute mute
- 30 minute mute
- 1 hour temp-ban
- 1 day tempban
- 3 day temp-ban
Level Three Chat Infractions
If you are unable to issue a permanent ban, tempban/mute the player and get a higher staff member to permanently ban them as soon as possible.
Level Three Infractions Include
- Advertising for other servers
- Making DDOS Threats (whether the intent is serious or as a joke)
- Making SWAT Threats (whether the intent is serious or as a joke)
- Doxxing another player (revealing another player's personally identifying information such as real names, physical addresses, IP addresses, phone numbers, emails, locations, bank information, social media, etc.)
Suggested Escalation of Punishments:
- Permanent ban for the rest of the current map
- Blacklist the player (Admin+ only)
Note that level three infractions may lead directly to a blacklist, particular when a threat is made against the server or another player. Since Admin+ can only handle a blacklist, should a player commit a Level Three Chat Infraction, if you are a mod you should instantly report it to higher staff for further evaluation.
