Surviving Your Trial Mod Phase

Welcome to the Trial Mod phase! This is the beginning of your journey as a staff member on MC-Labs. This guide outlines your specific commands, limits, and tips on successfully passing your trial.

Trial-Mod Commands & Limitations

As a Trial-Mod, your permissions are capped to prevent major permanent errors:

  • Temporary Banning:
    /tempban <user> <time> <reason>
    • Limit: Maximum ban length of 7 days. If a player requires a longer or permanent ban, tempban them for 7 days and request an Admin to extend it.
  • Temporary Muting:
    /mute <user> <time> <reason>
    • Limit: Maximum mute length of 7 days.
  • Unmuting (Mistake Correction):
    /unmute <username>
    • Note: If you unmute a player because you made a mistake, ask an Admin to prune the player's history to remove the active record of the incorrect mute.
  • Staff Chat:
    /a <message>
    • Use this to discuss cases or consult with other staff members.

Tips for Success

1. Making Mistakes is Okay

If you make a mistake, itโ€™s not the end of the world. Please remember that theyโ€™re absolutely fine - as long as you fix them, and learn from them. Donโ€™t beat yourself up over a mis-tabbing of a name, or an incorrectly timed mute.

2. Seek Feedback

As a Trial-Mod, you are always welcome to seek out feedback from other/higher staff members to improve your performance. This is not only healthy for your experience but also encouraged as it helps us understand that youโ€™re aiming to improve.

3. Consult When in Doubt

If you are ever unsure of a situation or what length a punishment should be, do not hesitate to ask in staff chat (/a). Cooperative staffing is highly valued.
